Headteacher’s Blog 25th March 2022

Another very enjoyable week in school. Everyone has been enjoying the sunshine including Parents who have been on the school run. It has been good to see so many faces returning to school.

The Learners have created their story maps to support them in writing their own version of The Great Pet Sale.

They have also been completing little language challenges and practising writing the days of the week.

They have created a Great Pet Sale headband.

Our Mums have a real treat on Mothering Sunday, they have made some a brilliant job of their cards with a real treat written inside! Don’t peep until Sunday.

PE was great fun, everyone was getting ready for the Wales Game by practising their football skills.

They focused on time within Maths thinking about - o clock, half past, days of the week and months of the year.

Well done everyone.

This week, the children continued their maths work on long division. They built upon their skills in the calculating before taking the challenge of word problems - having to work out the correct process first. They excelled and demonstrated brilliant ability and understanding.

As part of the topic for the term (Our Special World), the children looked at recycling and decomposition. They used their numeracy and research skills to create a decomposition timeline. This developed their technological, logical, and numeracy skills.

To further understand the Oceans the children created jars which show the five layers of the ocean. This was a fun experiment for them and it was very effective with the children able to explain the different layers of the ocean to Mr Hills.

As Wednesday was such a lovely day, they spent the majority of it outdoors with Mr Hills. This included beginning to co-write their descriptive writing pieces whilst enjoying the fresh air, and a football match which was full of competitiveness and fun!

They had a discussion on forgiveness, and the importance of it. The children debated whether forgiveness is always easy, before creating their own quotes about forgiveness.

I was immensely impressed by the ability shown in their Welsh lesson. The children demonstrated great confidence and produced excellent pieces of work, orally and written.

They also continued with their pastels and aquarelles pieces of art which are looking very promising!

Wellies in the Wood was a great success again this week. Many thanks to Michelle for leading this across the Federation.

A fantastic week for all with an Open the Book worship at the end.
