Our school motto is 'Challenging our minds, growing our heart'. We welcome children, their parents and their families into our friendly, happy and hard-working environment, where respect for others and positive attitudes towards work and behaviour are encouraged and nurtured.
Ysgol Nannerch is a community focused school which recognises the importance of working in partnership with children, parents and the community in order that each child can be given the opportunity to develop their lifelong learning skills to enable them to reach their own unique potential.
Our school values are Trust, Hope, Community, Perseverance, Compassion and Community. As a school community we strongly believe that every child can achieve and will strive to do their best within an environment which promotes every aspect of their health and well being.
Originally built in 1895 to serve the local community today Ysgol Nannerch is a Voluntary Controlled Primary School which recognises the importance of working in partnership with children, parents, our Church and the community. Our local church is St Michael and All Angels which we often walk to for special events and celebrations.
The school, located on one site within the heart of the thriving village community of Nannerch, in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, provides an education for children between the ages of 3 to 11 years. The School has created strong links with the village playgroup (Nannerch Under 5's) and runs a 'walking bus' 5 days a week between the two settings.
We offer wrap around care, including the 30 hours free childcare offer between 8:10am and 5.00pm. We welcome Early Entitlement children who can use breakfast club, playgroup via our walking bus, and afternoon sessions at school followed by afterschool club at The Den. We find our children thrive in the 'home from home' feel and transition smoothly into full time school.
The school site of Ysgol Nannerch benefits from an extensive outdoor learning and play environments - including a wildlife and Forest School setting, which now also has an outdoor ‘Eco-Classroom’ with its own solar panels & small wind turbine. More recently the older children won a nature competition which led to the school having a new pond installed at school. Following small additions to the original Victorian building, a hall extension was completed in 1998 which also added a kitchen and additional space above on a first floor.
All staff make a valuable contribution to the School and work in a variety of different roles within the school.
I would be happy to meet parents considering our school for their child, and I look forward to welcoming you and your child to Ysgol Nannerch.
